It's a cold winter morning - 4:00am, give or take. It's still dark, and Batman has been here in the outskirts of Gotham for longer than he'd care to admit. The trees surrounding him block most of the light wind that travels through the crisp air. Everything is frozen in place.

This stillness, however, is disrupted when a sudden collection of smoke creeps up from behind him. Batman tenses slightly as he eyes the dry haze, but he doesn't turn to face its source.

"I was wondering when you'd show up."
